Taiz is a mountainous city in southwestern Yemen. As the historical capital city, it was once described as one of the most beautiful and extensive in the country. It is still known today as the cultural capital of Yemen. Taiz is home to the Ashrafiya mosque and the Jabal Saber Mountain among other landmarks. Given its landscape and warm climate, the walled city thrived on coffee production and boasts of some of the finest coffee in the region. Taiz was the first city in the country to have a citywide purified water system.
