South Sudan, which declared its independence from Sudan in 2011, has its capital at the city of Juba. This country, due to its vast oil resources, has been dragged into many conflicts throughout history and suffers from lack of adequate health, education, and transport facilities. The first baby born in this multi-ethnic nation after its independence was named “Free.” Sunsets in Al Jazeera, boat rips to the waterfalls of the Marrah Mountains in Darfur, and the wildlife in Boma Nature Park are popular touristic activities. The ancient site of the Meroe Pyramids, and rustic huts known as “tukels” offer a deeper view of South Sudan.
