San Angelo is a city in the US. Located in the state of Texas, San Angelo is the seat of Tom Green County. The city lies in the Concho Valley, which is famous for its freshwater mussels. San Angelo was named by Bartholomew DeWitt, one of the city’s early inhabitants, in honor of his wife. The Jumano people were among San Angelo’s first settlers. The city was later governed by the Spanish Empire, Mexico, and the Republic of Texas. Most of San Angelo’s growth was fueled by the oil boom in the 1990s. Apart from oil, agriculture, telecommunications and healthcare are among the city’s largest industries.
