Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima (born 1976), generally known as Ronaldo, is a retired Brazilian footballer. Nicknamed “El Fenomeno” (The Phenomenon) thanks to his quick dribbling and excellent finishing, Ronaldo headlined the attack for Brazil’s Cruzeiro, the Netherlands’ PSV, Spain’s Barcelona, and Italy’s Inter Milan. In the latter part of his career, Ronaldo also played for Spain’s Real Madrid, Italy’s AC Milan and Brazil’s Corinthians. Ronaldo won consecutive World Player of the Year awards in 1996 and 1997 and again in 2002. Internationally, he held the record for the most goals at a World Cup (15) until Germany’s Miroslav Klose passed him in 2014.
