Ramallah is located a couple of miles north of Jerusalem in the central region of the West Bank, one of two territories claimed by the State of Palestine. The city functions as the administrative capital of the Palestinian National Authority, as well as housing many embassies and the headquarters of international NGOs. As the leading center of political and economic activity in the Palestinian Territories, Ramallah has experienced significant economic and population growth since 2002. The Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center and the Ramallah Cultural Palace are two popular cultural spaces that represent Ramallah’s lively cultural scene.
