Puerto Princesa is a coastal city located in the western province of Palawan in the Philippines. In 1872 Spanish colonizers came across the plateau and decided that it would be a good location for resettlement. Nowadays it is better known as an eco-tourism center and for being home to the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, a natural wonder and tourist magnet. It is also the perfect base from which to explore the surrounding islands of natural beauty where sightings of dolphins, turtles and stingrays are common. The gothic Immaculate Conception Cathedral is the city’s main historical sight.
