New York City, located in the northwest of the United States, is situated in New York State. It was made the first capital of the US in 1789. The city is home to the United Nations Headquarters. Its most well known nickname is “The Big Apple,” popularized by the journalist John J. Fitz Gerald. Times Square is named after the newspaper The New York Times. The city sets the stories of many superheros in the Marvel comic universe, and many popular films. New York, known for its skyscrapers, Central Park, the Statue of Liberty, the Wall Street Stock Market, and countless art museums such as the MoMA, is one of the most crowded metropolises in the world.
