NEW ORLEANS

New Orleans is a city in the state of Louisiana located in the South of the United States. The city was founded by Montreal-born colonist Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne, and was named after Orléans in France. Particularly influenced by France in food culture, New Orleans is also considered to be the birthplace of jazz. Its yearly Mardi Gras celebration is a world-wide event. The city’s important sites include the National World War II Museum, the New Orleans Museum of Art, and the New Orleans Jazz Museum. It’s sports groups include the“Saints” for American football, and the “Pelicans” for basketball. New Orleans is the birthplace of famous names such as Louis Prima, Sam Butera, Sidney Bechet, Reese Witherspoon, and Tyler Perry.
