Muscat is the largest city and the capital of Oman. It has been an important trading port between East and West. Muscat has historically been home to different cultures such as the Persians, the Portuguese Empire, the Iberian Union, and the Ottoman Empire. The western Al Hajar Mountains dominate the landscape of Muscat, as well as its beautiful mosques. The city lies on the Arabian Sea along the Gulf of Oman. Muscat’s economic resources are trading, petroleum, liquified natural gas, porting, and tourism. The Royal Opera House and the Oman Council building, cruising with the traditional Dhow, swimming with dolphins and turtles in the Gulf of Oman are tourist attractions of Muscat. Famous Swedish musician Avicii has spent his last days in this city before his unexpected death.
