Leeds is a city in the UK, in the county of West Yorkshire, about 270 kilometers from the capital, London. It has a diverse economy, with finance and business services being important components. Historically, there were settlements in the area from the Bronze Age, but the earliest mention of it is from the 8th century. From a small settlement, Leeds grew in importance from the 16th century, and again during the industrial revolution with heavy involvement in the woolen cloth trade. It became a city in 1893. For visitors, there is a range of museums, parks, and many attractive Victorian buildings.
