Kansas is located in the central area of the United States, in the state of Missouri. The city takes its name from the Kansa language of the Kaw nation. It is also known as "City of Fountains" with approximately 200 fountains. One of the most important centers of jazz and blues, Kansas is the birthplace of musicians such as Charlie Parker, Chris Arpad, Chris Burnett, and Dawayne Bailey. Museums such as The Nelson-Atkins Art Museum, the American Jazz Museum and the Museum of Illusions are in Kansas. The city is represented in sports by the Chiefs in American football, the Royals in baseball and the Jayhawks in basketball.
