Jakarta is the capital and largest city of Indonesia. The city is called the"Big Durian" because of the fruit that is indigenous to the region. Jakarta is also the home to the Betawi Indians and bears the traces of their culture. The city has a lively cultural life that includes the Jakarta Fair, the Jakarta International Film Festival, the Java Jazz Festival, and Flona Jakarta. It also has over 100 mega shopping malls that are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Some of Jakarta’s significant sites are the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Nusantara, Wayang, Bahari, and monuments such as Selamat Datang, Tugu Tani, and Girgantara.
