Conor McGregor is an Irish mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter. He a former champion of both the lightweight and featherweight divisions of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He started training MMA in 2006 in Dublin, where he fought in a number of small MMA promotion companies. In 2013, he joined the UFC, where his exciting fighting style and his brazen, self-aggrandizing comments to the media made him a superstar. McGregor eventually became the first fighter in UFC history to hold two championship belts at once. His personal life has been plagued by scandals, including a number of assaults. He lost the lightweight championship to Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018.
