Bourg-en-Bresse is a town in eastern France. The town lies about 70 kilometers northeast of Lyon, on the banks of a tributary of the Saône River. In the 15th century, it served as a provincial capital for the dukes of Savoy. Bourg-en-Bresse traded hands between France and Savoy several times, and it was the site of a heavy siege during the Franco-Savoyard War from 1600 to 1601. Sights of interest include two churches from the 16th century, including the church of Notre-Dame, which has Renaissance and Gothic features. In recent times, agriculture has become more prominent in Bourg-en-Bresse’s economy.
