Bogor is a city in Indonesia, and part of the Jakarta Metropolitan Area. It is situated in the West Java Province. The city has a storied past, having been part of the Taruma Kingdom and later functioning as the capital of the Sunda Kingdom. It subsequently hosted the summer palace of the Governor-General of the Dutch East Indies, and was known as Buitenzorg. The city was given its current moniker when it became part of Indonesia in 1950. The summer palace of the Governor-General also became the summer palace of Indonesia’s President.
