Bern is the “de facto” capital of Switzerland, located in the northeastern part of the Swiss Federation. It was founded by the Duke of Zähringen “Berthold the fifth” in 1191. The city has remained intact since the medieval times. The Altstadt area is on the UNESCO’s World Heritage List. The Parliament building, the Cathedral of Bern, the Tower Clock, Parliament Square, and the Bern Historical Museum are primary sites to visit. The Museum of Fine Arts, which has paintings of important artists such as Picasso and Paul Klee, is frequented by tourists. This city, in which the world-famous Toblerone chocolates are produced, was also the hometown of Albert Einstein.
