Bekasi is a city in Indonesia. It is located in West Java, and adjacent to Jakarta. Bekasi is part of the Jakarta Metropolitan Area, and many of its residents commute to Jakarta for work. The city is one of Indonesia’s most populous cities, housing growing communities of locals and expats. Bekasi is also one of the country’s oldest settlements, with its history dating back to the Kingdom of Tarumanagara, which was established in 358. Bekasi has a lively commercial district, which is filled with both financial and shopping centers. There are several industrial areas on the city’s outskirts, hosting the factories of major brands like LG, Converse and Samsung.
