Al Ahmadi is an oil-rich Kuwaiti city located in the south of the country. The city was founded by the 10th ruler of Kuwait, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. It covers an area of 5,120 square kilometers and has a population of about 394,000. It was built to house the workers of Kuwait’s oil industry in the 1940s and 1950s. Besides the private preserve of the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), the city is home to the KOC Ahmad Al Jaber Oil & Gas Exhibition and the KOC Oil Display Center. Visitors to Al Ahmadi also have a chance to watch camel racing at the Camel Racing Club.
