AJMAN

Ajman is the capital of the emirate of Ajman which is the smallest emirate in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It was founded in 1816 and is an original constituent of the UAE. Historically, the main activities of Ajman were date farming and pearling given its location along the Persian Gulf. Naturally, Ajman has a strong fishing industry, which also contributes most of its imports. There is also a ship-repair yard, as well as Ajman Port and Ajman Free Zone, which are major contributors to the emirate's economy. Ajman City distinguishes itself by means of its unique beachfront atmosphere with restaurants and shopping malls lining the coast.
